Tata Harrier prices have been increased by Rs. 31,000/-, base variant now starts from Rs. 12.99 lakhs.
Tata Motors have decided to hike the price of their latest SUV, the Tata Harrier across all the variants. Tata launched the Harrier SUV in January 2019 with the price starting from Rs. 12.69 lakhs for the base XE variant, going all the way up to Rs. 16.25 lakhs (all prices ex-showroom, Delhi) for the top of the line XZ model.
The range now starts from Rs. 12.99 lakhs for the base XE variant and goes up to Rs. 16.55 lakhs for the range topping XZ variant. While Tata has not made any official announcement, the possible reason may be the substantial increase in input costs. The price has been updated silently on their website.
While the Tata Harrier has been recording satisfactory sales number averaging around 1500 units every month, there are two other brands getting themselves ready to launch their first model in the Indian markets directly rivalling the Tata Harrier in the compact SUV segment. Kia will be unveiling the Seltos on June 20, while MG Motors will be launching the MG Hector.
Tata Motors has been been testing the BS6-ready version of Tata Harrier, which produces significantly higher 170 BHP, is likely to be introduced around the time the BS6 norms get mandated (April 2020).
The things to be noted are the pricing of the upcoming SUVs in the market. Also, whether the increased price of Tata Harrier will have some negative impact on the sales of the SUV in such competitive market. It will be interesting to see how Tata Motors handles the pricing of Tata Harrier when the BS6 norms kick in next year.
