Tata Motors to introduce 1.5-litre turbo petrol in the Harrier soon.
The Tata Harrier was launched in 2019 and exactly after a year of launch, Tata Motors has introduced an updated with 170 HP diesel motor and automatic gearbox along with new features on offer.
Now the Indian carmaker is preparing to introduce a petrol engine options with the Harrier this festive season. It is a 1.5-litre turbo petrol engine derived from the 1.2-litre Revotron petrol motor.
The four cylinder turbocharged 1.5-litre direct-injection petrol is likely to produce power upwards of 150 HP. The same engine will also be offered in the 7-seater Gravitas at a later stage.
The petrol motor with the automatic transmission will come with paddle shifters along with drive modes including performance oriented Sport mode.
At the time of launch, the Tata Harrier petrol will compete against the Jeep Compass and MG Hector petrol variants. Even the new generation Mahindra XUV500 will come with a new mStallion turbo petrol engine next year.
The Indian carmaker is also developing an electrified version with hybrid motor assist to get ready for the CAFE II norms in 2022.
