Tata has revealed the H5X concept at the ongoing 2018 Auto Expo, launch in 2019.
Tata has been quite on a roll since its last four product launches in the Indian market. The Tigor brought features unheard of in the small car segment, the Tigor brought style and desirability to the compact sedan segment while the Nexon did manage to wow the Indian audience with its design, near-perfect interior and the powerful choice of engines.
Intending to amaze the Indian customers yet again, the automaker has unveiled the H5X SUV concept from the Optimal Modular Efficient Global Advanced Architecture at the 2018 Auto Expo. MotorBeam was the first to show you the uncamouflaged image of the H5X yesterday. The SUV is the first to feature Tata Motors’ IMPACT 2.0 design language and will be offered in 2WD and 4WD drive options. The concept car looks bold and the slim headlights, massive wheels and the LED tail-lights give it an attitude. How much of these design elements you see in the concept car will make it to the production-ready car is what remains to be seen. That said, this is truly a Land Rover for the masses.
The flagship Tata will be powered by a 2.0-litre, Fiat-sourced, MultiJet II diesel motor that belts out 140 HP of power and 350 Nm of torque. The oil-burner will come matched to either a 6-speed manual or an automatic gearbox. The 5-seater luxury SUV will be underpinned by the Land Rover Discovery Sport platform and is expected to come with all the bells and whistles. Pricing is expected to hover around the Rs. 20 lakhs mark which will pit this SUV against the Jeep Compass and Hyundai Tucson.
