This is the first uncamouflaged image of the Tata H5X which makes its world debut tomorrow.
You read it first on MotorBeam. The Tata H5X (internal codename Q501 for the 5-seater and Q502 for the 7-seater) will be unveiled tomorrow at the 2018 Auto Expo but we at MotorBeam have got hold of an exclusive image of the concept car. The SUV features Tata Motors’ IMPACT 2.0 design language with the design being a step away from what we have seen on Tata cars in the past.
Underpinned by the Land Rover Discovery Sport platform (internally codenamed L550), the Tata H5X will be a capable off-road vehicle although the company will only offer 4-wheel drive as optional. Powering the upcoming Tata flagship is a 2.0-litre, Fiat sourced, Multijet 2 diesel motor that belts out 180 HP of power on the 7-seater and 140 HP on the 5-seater. Torque output is rated at around 350 Nm of torque, matched to either a 6-speed manual or an automatic gearbox.
We can expect the Tata H5X to bring in segment first features and the design looks quite bold while the platform is robust enough to take it places. One can notice the Jeep Compass inspired wheel arches while the concept model gets a large panoramic roof, floating roof treatment and bold lines.
The Tata H5X is expected to be priced upwards of Rs. 20 lakhs, competing against the Jeep Compass, Hyundai Tucson and upcoming Mahindra XUV700. The SUV will be launched early next year.
