Tata Motors has revealed that it will unveil the Gravitas SUV on 26th January 2021 in India. The firm has already confirmed the launch of Altroz turbo petrol in the same month.
The Gravitas will then be launched soon after, likely in February, which was not the actual plan, but then Tata had to face issues brought about by the pandemic and the resultant lockdowns.
We are no strangers when it comes to the Gravitas, for we have seen it already at this year’s Auto Expo, while multiple spy shots of the car have also been taken and circulated since.
Likely to be offered in 6- and 7-seater variants, the Gravitas will sit above the Harrier, on which it is based, in the carmaker’s lineup.
In addition to the additional seating, the SUV will also likely come with different upholstery inside, new dashboard trim, along with more equipment as standard than the Harrier.
However, features such as the 7-inch driver’s cluster, 8.8-inch infotainment screen, voice recognition, JBL sound system, and the likes will be carried forward from the 5-seater SUV.
On the exterior design front, the Gravitas will only look different from the Harrier at the rear. The SUV will have a stepped roof with roof rails, squared wheel arches and a larger rear overhang.
A 2.0-litre turbo diesel engine good for 170 PS and 350 Nm will power the car and it will come mated to either a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed automatic gearbox.
Soon after the Tata Gravitas unveil, its launch will take place and the car is expected to command close to Rs. 1 lakh premium over its 5-seater sibling.
