Tata Gravitas launch has been delayed and pushed to next year due to uncertainty that currently prevails in the market.
After the May month debacle, automobile manufacturers were pleased to see sales revive in June. People, including many first-time buyers, began purchasing their own vehicle due to fears over the spread of COVID-19.
New launches started happening and it was expected that manufacturers will cash in, launch more products that suit the current market trend and reap benefits.
In that respect, cars like the Venue iMT, Kia Sonet, to name a couple, are set to be launched soon. But, Tata has chosen not to launch the Gravitas in 2020.
This is the second time the Tata Gravitas launch has been put on hold. First, the SUV was set to be launched by June-July and then in the August-September period this year.
Tata believes it is not feasible to launch the SUV with the current production and supply constraints and the uncertainty prevalent in the market.
Also, the Tata Gravitas is aimed at the urban market which currently is not producing demand, rather it is the rural market where the demand lies.
Tata also knows that a new product needs a lot of brand building so as to attain good initial gains. Thus, considering the situation, it has decided to launch the SUV next year.
We do not know if this trend will be followed by other manufacturers too, but changes in the immediate future should be expected in the COVID-19 era.
