Tata Motors has started developing a new compact sedan.
Tata Motors currently has the Tigor compact sedan on sale which is based on the Tiago hatchback. The Tigor gets overshadowed by the Tiago and now there is Altroz sitting right above the compact sedan and hence it is not selling in big numbers.
The Indian carmaker is developing an all-new compact sedan, which could eventually replace the Tata Tigor. The new compact sedan is sub 4-metre and based on the ALFA platform, same as the Altroz.
The new compact sedan from Tata Motors is internally codenamed as Goshaq. The ALFA platform can accommodate hatchbacks, compact SUVs, sedans and MPV with multiple engine and gearbox options including electric and hybrid powertrains.
The Tata Goshaq is likely to be more premium than the Tigor with more features on offer. We can expect spacious interior and new design language with this compact sedan.
It will compete head on with the likes of Maruti Dzire, Hyundai Aura, Honda Amaze, etc. Launch timeline is not yet confirmed as it is in the initial development stage.
