This will most likely be the Tata Tiago EV but could be the Tata Tigor EV that has already been supplied to the Government.
Tata wants to waste no time in bringing their electric vehicles to the people and if our sources are to be believed, then it will even be introducing an electric vehicle by November 2018. It, however, won’t be the only manufacturer to sell an electric vehicle in India as Mahindra already has its e2o in the showrooms. But Tata will surely be the only one selling an electric car in different segments.
The Tata Tiago EV is most likely to be the one that will be launched in November 2018. This is only a few months away which means that the car is already ready to hit the roads. Tata seems to have expedited the process by using the battery pack from the Tata Tigor EV. But we hope the one on the Tiago EV has more capacity as the Tigor EV wasn’t able to perform as expected.
The Tata Tiago EV won’t be too feature loaded as the company will be looking to keep the costs down which sure will be. This is because its production will fall under the FAME II scheme. This will give subsidies to the company in the manufacturing stages to allow for a cheaper end product. The Tiago already has good handling and ride characteristics and the EV should be able to carryover those.
But what if the Tiago EV isn’t the one to be launched and instead it is the Tata Tigor EV. Well, we are happy with that too as it gets additional storage space with a boot. The huge boot, however, hasn’t translated to a huge liking, as it was supplied to the Government and failed to go the distance that it was supposed to. With that and everything else in mind, the Tata Tiago EV is the right choice for a November 2018 launch as it has the looks, got the quality and rides well.
