Tata Curvv ICE revealed along with the EV version, price announcement 2nd Sept
Tata Motors has officially unveiled the production version of its much anticipated Curvv coupe SUV in India. This new model is set to challenge midsize SUVs like the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Maruti Grand Vitara and others in the segment. The Curvv, which will be available in six variants, features both manual and automatic transmission options across three different engines. Tata plans to announce the vehicle’s pricing on 2nd September.
The Tata Curvv offers a choice between three engines. The first is a 1.2-litre three-cylinder turbo-petrol engine producing 120 HP and 170 Nm of torque. The second option is a 1.5-litre diesel engine delivering 118 HP. The third is Tata’s new 1.2-litre direct-injection turbo-petrol engine, which generates 125 HP and 225 Nm. Each engine comes with a 6-speed manual transmission as standard, with a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic option also available. Notably, the Curvv will be the only mass-market diesel car in India offering a dual-clutch automatic transmission.
The Curvv, which shares its base with the Nexon, showcases a distinct design, particularly in its profile. It features a sharply sloping coupe roofline and squircle wheel arches. The rear end sports a unique rooftop-mounted spoiler and a full-width tail light, alongside a robust dual-tone bumper.
Inside, the Curvv’s cabin draws heavily from the Nexon and Nexon EV but introduces a dual-tone burgundy and black theme. The dashboard and centre console are familiar, while the four-spoke steering wheel is borrowed from the Harrier and Safari models.
Tata has equipped the Curvv with an array of features aimed at enhancing both convenience and safety. These include a segment-first powered tailgate with gesture control, 18-inch alloy wheels, flush door handles, 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system and a fully digital driver’s display. Additional features include a panoramic sunroof, reclining rear seats, ventilated front seats and six airbags. Advanced driver-assistance systems (ADAS) at Level 2, electronic stability control (ESC), disc brakes on all wheels, 360-degree camera and an electronic parking brake with auto-hold.
Built on Tata’s new ATLAS platform, the Curvv is designed to support various body styles and powertrain configurations, including both petrol and diesel options with manual and automatic transmissions. The Curvv will be available in six variants: Smart, Pure+, Creative, Creative+ S, Accomplished S and Accomplished+ A.
Tata Motors aims for the Curvv to become a major player in the midsize SUV segment. The Curvv will compete with other midsize SUVs such as the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Honda Elevate, Maruti Grand Vitara, Toyota Hyryder, Skoda Kushaq, Volkswagen Taigun, MG Astor and Citroen Basalt.
As the launch date approaches, all eyes are on the pricing announcement, which will play a crucial role in determining the Curvv’s competitiveness in a crowded market.
