Tata Motors, a company known to have a normal image with its vehicles is finally going to get some boost and all credit for that will go to the new Bolt hatchback that will come with switchable driving modes! Yes you read it right, the Tata Bolt petrol, that is powered by the newly-developed Revotron engine comes with three different driving modes to suit specific requirements of the driver as well as the driving conditions. The Bolt will come with City, Eco and Sports modes and all three of these are tuned in such a way that each one of them will offer a different driving feel.
The City mode will most probably come with an engine tune that pumps out a decent amount of power in the low and mid-range RPMs. Since city driving involves a lot of traffic and gear changes, we’re sure Tata Motors has worked hard in developing the City tune that will make driving through traffic easier. Coming to the Eco mode, the tagline says ‘Powerful Drive. Optimised Performance’ which basically means that even though fuel economy has been given a priority in this mode, performance isn’t sacrificed either and that drivers won’t feel that they are driving a sluggish vehicle. The Sports mode is tuned to extract the best performance out of the turbocharged engine. Redlining should be fun in this mode and it is aimed at those who want to have some fun with their vehicles.
The Tata Bolt is powered by a 1.2-litre turbocharged Revotron petrol engine that churns out 85 PS of power and and 140 Nm of peak torque. It is the first time that some manufacturer has offered switchable driving modes in a vehicle in this segment. Competition like the Maruti Swift, Toyota Etios Liva, Ford Figo, Hyundai Grand i10, etc. really have a big cause of concern now. It is also good to see that Tata Motors is trying to cater to performance-seekers as well as those who desire fuel economy and ease of driving by offering such driving modes.
