Showcased at the beginning of 2014, the Tata Bolt hatchback and Zest compact sedan have been one of the most closely watched products that will debut this year. As Tata Motors is launching two all-new products after a gap of 5 years, the automaker is leaving no stone unturned to make sure that the products receive the much hype, building up the anticipation prior to launch. While the Zest is scheduled to launch next month, the company has pushed the launch date for the Bolt hatchback to the end of this year.
Even though the company was working to launch both the products closely, the dealers across the country wanted to concentrate on one car at a time, allowing some breathing space between both the models. Improving the overall marketing and promotional activities, the gap will also ensure that dealers focus more effectively on customer service and demand post launch and that either of the models do not creep into the market share of the other.
While the Zest will make its debut next month in the hotly contested compact sedan space competing with the Maruti Suzuki Swift DZire, Honda Amaze and Hyundai Xcent in the segment, Tata is making sure that the Bolt does not go unnoticed and has been driving the test mules across the country time and again. This particular example was caught by our eagle eyed reader Mr. Manoj Jayachandran, who captured the Bolt with medium camouflage in Chennai giving out only the essential details of the car.
A major departure in terms of design and equipment, the Bolt and Zest will offer several segment first features and are expected to outpace the competition in terms of pricing as well. The cars get Tata’s home-grown 1.2-litre Revotron petrol engine that produces 90 PS of power and 140 Nm of torque and also offers three driving modes namely City, Eco and Sport. There will also be the 1.3-litre MultiJet diesel motor on offer producing 75 PS and 90 PS on the Bolt and Zest respectively.
