The 2015 Tata Bolt shares its underpinnings with the Zest compact sedan employing the same 1.2-litre Revotron petrol and 1.3-litre diesel engine options under the hood.
With the positive response received by the Zest compact sedan, Tata Motors is optimistic with the new Bolt hatchback that has been confirmed for launch on 20th January in the country. Sharing its underpinnings with the new Zest, the Bolt is based on a heavily revised Indica platform and showcases the comprehensive makeover the automaker has gone through with its future set of products. Ahead of the official launch, Tata Motors has also started accepting bookings online for an amount of Rs. 11,000/-.
A recap on the specifications, the Tata Bolt is powered by the 1.2-litre Revotron turbo petrol engine producing 90 PS and 140 Nm of torque and comes with 3 driving modes, while the 1.3-litre diesel motor sourced from Fiat produces 75 PS and 190 Nm of torque. Both the motors are paired to a 5-speed manual, while there is no AMT unit on offer as of now. The Bolt comes loaded with features including a Harman infotainment system, smartphone integration, Bluetooth connectivity among other salient features.
Unlike the Zest though, the Bolt is being positioned as a more youth centric, sporty offering and comes with all black interiors. The hatchback will be competing against the Maruti Swift, Hyundai Grand i10 and the likes in the segment, while prices are expected to start under Rs. 4 lakhs (ex-showroom) for the Bolt. With the launch still sometime away, Tata will be showcasing the model at malls and corporate parks in its segmented marketing strategy. You can also check out our review of the 2015 Tata Bolt HERE.
