Tata Motors is working on an all-new SUV that will rival the likes of the Hyundai Creta.
Tata Motors is going to showcase 4 new vehicles at the upcoming Geneva Motor Show. The company will officially reveal the Altroz hatchback and the production version of the H7X which is a 7-seater version of the Harrier. It has now come to light that the automaker is working on a brand new SUV.
The new SUV from Tata is slated to be positioned between the Nexon and Harrier. There’s a considerable gap in terms of size and price between these two vehicles and the new SUV which has been codenamed Blackbird will be slotted in this gap.
The Tata Blackbird will be slightly smaller than the Harrier in size, somewhat similar to the Hyundai Creta. It is expected to come with 1.2-litre turbo petrol and 1.5-litre diesel engines (from the Nexon), albeit in a higher state of tune. The vehicle will be based on an extended version of the Alpha platform.
The vehicle will be designed by Pratap Bose and his team and it is expected to have modern exteriors and interiors with a long list of features on offer. The SUV will also come in an EV version because Tata doesn’t want to go down the hybrid route. The Tata Blackbird is likely to go on sale in 2021.
