Tata disrupts the Indian EV space with the global unveil of its new Avinya electric SUV, 500 km range in 30-minutes-charge
Tata Motors today made its presence felt strongly in the EV space with the global unveil of its new Avinya electric SUV that marks the company’s vision of a pure electric future.
Built based on the brand’s new Pure EV GEN 3 architecture, the SUV packs with new age technology, software, and artificial Intelligence that work seamlessly to deliver what the brand calls ‘wellness’ and ‘tranquility’ during travel.
Hinting that this product will be for the mass market with an affordable price tag, Tata said, this concept is targeted towards the fast growing high volume segment and it’s set to go on sale in 2025.
Deriving its name from Sanskrit, Tata said, Avinya stands for innovation enabling customers to enjoy maximum room and luxury. The car will be powered by a high capacity battery pack that could offer a humongous range of 500 km in under 30 minutes of charging.
Coming to the looks, Tata claims Avinya is a mix of a hatchback, MPV, and SUV. The bonnet is small thanks to the new architecture. Overall, the car has smooth panels with no sharp bits. At the front, it gets a broad LED strip which also doubles up as Tata’s logo. The rear too has a similar LED strip mounted high up on what looks like a rear spoiler.
On the sides, the new ‘Butterfly’ doors open from the center to provide easy ingress and egress. The front driver seat now rotates, again, to provide maximum comfort while boarding.
The Avinya is claimed to be made up of recyclable materials inline with Tata’s goal of a sustainable future. The interior is fully finished in beige for an airy feel. The seats look conventional though.
There’s only 1 steering-embedded display on offer while a large speaker runs through the dashboard for great conversation and music experience. Tata says this combination will take the connected experience to the next level. There’s also a unique aroma diffuser that is claimed to offer passengers a soothing experience.
Tata claims that the GEN 3 platform offers high structural safety and has the next level of water proofing and dust protection making it ready for all forms of terrains.
The brand has revealed not much about the powertrain but going by the proven Ziptron, this should be no less capable. The GEN 3 platform will also sprawl more Tata cars in the future.
