Tata Altroz Racer finally teased for launch in early June, to compete with i20 N Line
Tata Altroz Racer is a much awaited performance centric version of the hatchback. It was first showcased at the Auto Expo and later at the Bharat Mobility Global Expo. The test mules have been spotted multiple times and now the hot hatch has been finally teased officially by Tata Motors ahead of its launch next month.
The teaser image reveals a dual tone orange and black Altroz Racer, which is the same colour combination that we saw at the Bharat Mobility Global Expo. The Indian carmaker is also expected to offer the hot hatch in dual tone red and black paint job along with an all-black version with sporty stripes on the hood and the bonnet.
Other exterior elements will include sporty side skirts and bigger roof mounted spoiler at the back. However, the alloy wheels showcased in the teaser image are different than the ones seen on the concept car. This suggests that the Altroz Racer production version will retain the same alloys of the regular Altroz range topping variant.
The interior will get an all-black treatment with contrasting colour tones on the dashboard, upholstery stitching and even the ambient lighting. Some of the features include 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system with the latest UI, ventilated leatherette front seats, 360 degree camera, voice activated electric sunroof and 6 airbags as standard.
The Tata Altroz Racer will be powered by a 1.2-litre turbo petrol engine, borrowed from the Nexon, which produces 120 PS and 170 Nm of torque. This will be mated to a 6-speed manual transmission. The Indian carmaker might offer an automatic transmission as well but it is yet to be confirmed.
We hope they tweak the steering and suspension for sporty driving dynamics offering sharper handling with better steering feedback. While Hyundai offers a sporty exhaust note with the i20 N Line, it is unlikely that the Altroz Racer will get a louder exhaust.
