Tata Altroz Racer launch timeline confirmed, more details leaked
Tata Altroz Racer launch is finally happening in early June. The performance oriented hatchback has been showcased multiple times at the Auto Expo then later at the Bharat Mobility Global Expo in its concept form.
The premium hatchback will get sporty styling updates in the form of new dual tone paint job, black alloy wheels, updated bumpers and larger roof mounted spoiler. The near-production concept we saw at the Bharat Mobility Global Expo had orange and black colour combination with white racing stripes on the hood and the roof.
The interior will also get sporty treatment like black and orange dashboard, orange stitching on the steering wheel, upholstery and door pads.
Tata Motors will be offering more features as well including 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system with the latest UI, ventilated leatherette front seats, 360 degree camera, voice activated electric sunroof and 6 airbags as standard.
It will use a more powerful 1.2-litre turbo petrol engine, which is borrowed from the Nexon. This engine produces 120 PS and 170 Nm of torque. According to the leaked details, it will only be offered with a 6-speed manual transmission. However, we believe Tata will offer the 6-speed DCA transmission sooner or later with the Altroz Racer.
The carmaker is claiming in the slide that it’ll be India’s safest and fastest hatchback. We’ll have to wait and see the acceleration timing when it comes out on the road.
The Tata Altroz Racer will compete head-on with the Hyundai i20 N Line which is powered by a 1.0-litre turbo petrol engine producing 120 PS and 172 Nm of torque. It is available with 6-speed MT and is also offered with a 7-speed DCT automatic. The i20 N Line is priced in the range of Rs. 9.99 lakhs to Rs. 12.51 lakhs (ex-showroom).
