Tata Altroz recently bagged a 5-star rating at the Global NCAP crash tests.
Tata Motors has entered the premium hatchback segment with the Altroz which is priced from Rs. 5.29 lakhs (ex-showroom). The new premium hatchback is available in five variants – XE, XM, XT, XZ and XZ(O). Bodypaint options include – Gold, Silver, Red, Grey and White.
The new Altroz uses the Impact 2.0 Design Language that is visible on the Harrier. It is based on the ALFA (Agile Light Flexible Advanced) architecture.
Tata Motors is offering a couple of BS6-compliant engine choices with the Altroz. The customers can choose between the 3-cylinder, 1.2-litre, Revotron petrol motor (86 PS and 113 Nm of torque) and the 4-cylinder, 1.5-litre, turbocharged Revotorq diesel mill (90 PS and 200 Nm of torque). The two engines are being offered with a 5-speed manual gearbox, no automatic option at present. Auto transmission will be launched ahead of the festive season this year.
In terms of design, the new Tata Altroz boasts of a sporty grille, dual-chamber automatic projector headlamps with LED DRLs, split tail lamps, integrated spoiler, piano black ORVM, C-pillar mounted rear door handles, black contrasting roof and 16-inch laser cut alloy wheels. Inside the cabin of Tata Altroz, features like 7-inch TFT digital instrument cluster, 7-inch floating touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, multifunction steering wheel, fully automatic AC, cruise control, blue ambient light and 15-litre cooled glove box are on offer.
There are customisation packs for the Altroz. The Rhythm pack is priced at Rs. 25,000/- for the XE and Rs. 39,000/- for the XM. The Style pack is priced at Rs. 34,000/-, Luxe is Rs. 39,000/- and Urban is priced at Rs. 30,000/-.
These customisation packs offer more features and cosmetic updates over the variant you choose.
Recently, Tata Altroz was awarded a 5-star rating in the adult occupant protection category at the Global NCAP crash tests. However, the premium hatchback scored only 3 stars in the child occupant protection category. It gets standard safety features like dual front airbags, ABS with EBD, reverse parking sensors, ISOFIX, driver and co-driver seatbelt reminder, high-speed alert system and impact sensing auto door unlock.
The Tata Altroz rivals the Maruti Suzuki Baleno, Hyundai Elite i20, Honda Jazz, Toyota Glanza and Volkswagen Polo in the Indian market.
