Tata Altroz Facelift Spied Testing, Launch Later This Year

Tata Altroz facelift spotted, to get design tweaks, larger infotainment, new features

Tata Motors appears to be gearing up for a mid-cycle update of the Altroz, with the premium hatchback recently spotted undergoing road tests once again. The latest spy images provide a closer look at some of the design tweaks and feature enhancements expected in the upcoming facelift.

Exterior Changes

The test mule seen in the spy shots was heavily camouflaged, masking most of the visual updates. However, a closer inspection reveals minor revisions, such as a redesigned front bumper featuring a vertical crease beneath the fog lamp housings. Another noteworthy change is the incorporation of LED elements in the tail lamps and turn indicators, enhancing the car’s lighting signature.

Interior

While the cabin remains largely under wraps in the latest images, one key update is evident — the presence of a larger touchscreen infotainment system. This is expected to be the 10.25-inch unit, already seen in the Altroz Racer and some of Tata’s other recent models. Although other interior details are not visible, Tata could refresh the cabin with updated upholstery and trim materials as part of the facelift. Some premium features could also be introduced on lower variants.

Features

Interestingly, the latest images do not indicate the presence of a sunroof, suggesting it might not be part of the facelifted Altroz’s equipment list. However, features like ventilated front seats — currently limited to the sportier Altroz Racer — could become available on the standard top-spec variants, expanding the appeal of the hatchback.

Powertrain Options

Under the hood, the Altroz facelift is expected to retain its existing engine options. These include a 1.2-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine producing 88 HP, paired with either a 5-speed manual or a 6-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission. There’s also a factory-fitted CNG variant with 73.5 HP and a 1.5-litre diesel engine generating 90 HP, both of which come with a 5-speed manual gearbox.

The more performance-focused Altroz Racer is powered by a 120 HP, 1.2-litre turbo-petrol engine mated to a 6-speed manual transmission — this powertrain is also expected to carry over into the facelifted model.

Balancing Act

Launched in early 2020, the Tata Altroz has seen incremental updates over the years, including new variants and powertrain additions, but this will be its first significant styling refresh. Despite being the only diesel offering in its segment, the Altroz faces stiff competition from rivals like the Maruti Suzuki Baleno, Hyundai i20, and Toyota Glanza, all of which consistently post higher sales numbers.

With the facelift, Tata Motors will aim to inject new life into the Altroz range, offering fresh appeal to prospective buyers while retaining its reputation for safety and strong build quality. The current Altroz is priced between Rs. 6.65 lakhs and Rs. 11.30 lakhs (ex-showroom) and the facelifted version could see slight revisions in pricing once it officially debuts.
