Details of the SWM SuperDual adventure motorcycle have surfaced the internet well ahead of its official launch.
Italian manufacturer SWM tasted success with its enduro and motocross range in the period around 1970s. Unfortunately, the brand faced liquidation in 1984, marking an end to its 13-year-old stint. Post its revival in 2014, SWM has proven its mettle and currently has presence in 25 countries with mutliple products in the 125-600cc range. India-based Kinetic had revealed its intention of bringing the Italian brand to India earlier this year and the first product, the SWM DualSport, is ready to hit our roads.
Sharing underpinnings with the proven Husqvarna TE610, the SWM DualSport adventure motorcycle series is also the brand’s flagship. It is highly likely that our market will receive the SuperDual T which is a tamed-down road version of the SuperDual X off-roader. The motorcycle is powered by a 600cc single-cylinder engine which develops 54 PS of power and 53.5 Nm of torque. Adventure bits on the DualSport T include adjustable long-travel suspension, knuckle guards, visor and radiator protector while panniers and fog lamps can be had as part of the optional GT kit.
Suspension setup comprises of Fast Ace upside down forks at the front and Sachs monoshock unit at the rear. Braking is performed through Brembo calipers at the front biting on a single 300 mm disc while the rear end gets a 220 mm rotor. Riding on a 19-inch front wheel and 17-inch rear wheel, the DualSport T gets Metzeler Tourance dual-sport tyres. Understandably, the wheels are a size smaller than those offered on the full-blown DualSport X. Weighing in at 186 kgs, the DualSport T gets a fuel tank capacity of 18-litres.
Kinetic Group MD Mr. Firodia has confirmed that the DualSport T is slated for launch (as CKD) in the next 3-4 months. Further, putting all speculations to rest, he added that the price would be kept below Rs. 6 lakhs (ex-showroom). Post the launch of MV Agusta in India through MotoRoyale dealerships, Kinetic goes on to add another Italian brand to the list. Moreover, Kinetic also entered into a joint venture with Norton recently for domestic assembly of motorcycles. Norton products are expected to hit the Indian market next year.
