Maruti Suzuki is yet to announce if it plans to offer the XL7 in India.
A 7-seat version of the Maruti XL6, touted the XL7 has been launched in Indonesia at a starting price of Rs. 11.98 lakhs (Rp 230,000,000). The new model is based on the India-spec variant but as the name suggests, gets a different seating layout and minor cosmetic changes.
The Suzuki XL7 gets a different set of alloy wheels as well as a hatch-mounted rear spoiler with a ‘Suzuki Sport’ branding. The XL7 is offered in 3 variants – Beta, Zeta and Alpha whereas the XL6 in India is offered in just two. The colour palette for the Zeta and Beta trims includes – Prime Cool Black, Pearl Snow White, Pearl Burgundy Red and Magma Grey Met, while the Alpha trim is available with Rising Orange + Black, Brave Khaki + Black, Prime Cool Black and Prime Snow White. The two-tone paint schemes on the top-spec trim offer a black finish on the roof.
While both models get an all-black theme for the cabin, the Suzuki XL7 gets a bench as the second row instead of captain seats. Standard features across all trims include LED headlamps with DRL, LED taillamps, 16-inch alloy wheels, 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system and Bluetooth phone controls on the steering wheel. The Beta and Alpha trims also offer chrome door handles, push-button start, automatic climate control, cooled cupholders and audio controls on steering wheels.
In terms of safety, the Suzuki XL7 gets dual-front airbags, ABS with EBD, rear parking sensors, a rearview camera (only with 4-speed AT) and ISOFIX child-seat anchorages. ESP and Hill Hold Control are available only on the automatic versions of the Beta and Alpha grades.
The Suzuki XL7 is powered by the familiar K15B 1.5-litre naturally-aspirated petrol engine that propels the XL6, Ertiga, Ciaz and the updated Vitara Brezza. It churns 104.7 PS @ 6000 RPM and a peak torque of 138 Nm @ 4400 RPM. Transmission options include a 5-speed manual and a 4-speed automatic.
