Suzuki Teases Authentics Concept, Headed For Shanghai

Suzuki has come up with a preview for a new C-segment sedan to take on the Chinese market rivals, known as Suzuki Authentics concept. The manufacturer has teased the Authentics concept ahead of the 2013 Shanghai Motor Show. While Suzuki has winded up its operations in the U.S. because of sluggish sales, the automaker is betting big for the Chinese car market in order to boost volumes. The Suzuki Authentics is intended to come up on stage at the 2013 Shanghai Motor Show for its official debut between 20th to 29th April 2013.

According to Suzuki, the new C-segment sedan showcases “sporty x elegant” design language boasting a long wheelbase and low profile stance with free flowing styling elements. The automaker hasn’t given away much information on the concept apart from the styling elements the vehicle will be wearing. While looking at the teaser images, it is evident that Suzuki has derived some styling elements from the recently launched SX4 Crossover, which debuted at the 2013 Geneva Auto Show and is expected to give the same family design to its upcoming models.

Suzuki had earlier tried its luck on the Kizashi sedan similarly but somehow it turned out to be a big failure for the automaker. The Suzuki Authentics concept is said to be the Kizashi’s replacement offering premium features and modern design elements. The Authentics concept could be the SX4 Crossover with a boot. Thus Suzuki will introduce the production version of the Authentics concept in the Indian market as the next generation SX4 sedan after the carmaker is done with the launch in the Chinese market.
