Suzuki Swish Facelift To Launch This Month, To Feature Disc Brake

The new Suzuki Swish facelift will get a mild exterior makeover, while technical upgrades will include a front disc brake, alloy wheels and tubeless tyres.

The 2015 Suzuki Swish facelift will continue with the same 125cc engine

Suzuki Motorcycle India had a positive 2014 with the successful Gixxer 155 street-fighter and Let’s 110 scooter launches, while its 125cc scooter Access continued to maintain decent sales over the year. However, the company’s other 125cc offering the Swish witnessed sluggish sales, especially with heat coming from the new Honda Activa 125. Now, in a bid to rejuvenate sales of its no frills scooter, Suzuki will be launching a facelifted version of the Swish this month that will get a host of changes and certain technical upgrades as well.

Sources close to the project revealed that the 2015 Suzuki Swish facelift will get mild updates to the exteriors that will be more youth centric along the lines of the Yamaha Ray Z and Honda Dio. In addition, the Swish will get updated with a front disc brake, new digital instrument console, alloy wheels as well as tubeless tyres. Sharing its powertrain and other mechanicals with the Access, power on the Swish facelift will continue to come from the same 125cc air-cooled engine producing 8.7 PS and 9.8 Nm of torque, paired to a CVT transmission.

A sporty scooter from Suzuki, the Swish couldn’t cut a significant market share for itself in the 125cc space. Nonetheless, the improvements will surely help the scooter grab some attention from prospective customers. The updates will also allow better differentiation from the Access, thereby avoiding cannabalization of sales. While the current Suzuki Swish is priced at Rs. 57,620/- (on-road, Mumbai), the facelifted model will be priced at a significant premium but will undercut the 125cc Activa’s pricing.

The Swish facelift will become the first scooter from Suzuki to get a disc brake
