Suzuki has introduced a new 5-door version of the Swift Sport in the international market. Until now the Swift Sport was offered in a 3-door version and now it gets a more practical option with the 5-door variant. The styling is exactly like the 3-door version which includes sporty bumpers, aero kit, big sized alloy wheels, twin tailpipes, sport seats and steering wheel. The new 2013 version gets an additional LED high mounted brake lamp and driver’s window ‘auto up’ feature.
The Japanese automaker has also added a new Boost Blue metallic colour which adds to the sportiness of the hatchback. The Sport moniker on the international model actually means business unlike the special edition Swift RS version with sticker job launched recently by Maruti Suzuki to increase volumes in India. The Suzuki Swift Sport features a 1.6-litre petrol engine, which produces 134 BHP of maximum power and 160 Nm of peak torque, mated to a 6-speed manual transmission.
The Suzuki Swift Sport returns a mileage of around 15 km/l with CO2 exhaust emissions rated at 147 g/km. The 5-door Swift Sport is available in Britain for £14,249 (Rs. 12.70 lakhs), which is £500 (Rs. 44,675/-) more than the 3-door model. Suzuki has also unveiled a 4-wheel drive version of the Swift in the UK. We don’t expect the Swift Sport to hit Indian roads anytime soon but with the 5-door model seems to be a practical option, which can give the Volkswagen Polo GT TSI stiff competition if introduced in our country.
