The launch of the Maruti Suzuki Swift has totally revolutionised the premium hatchback segment of the auto industry and after so many years still rules the market with sheer dominance. With so much fan following, how about adding some spice to it! Welcome the new Suzuki Swift Sport, a sportier version of the Suzuki Swift. Coming straight to the point, the Swift Sport doesn’t look any different from the exterior, be it front or the rear. The only things different are the rear spoilers and the rear diffuser fitted to it.
The Suzuki Swift Sport is powered by a 1.6 litre petrol engine that produces 134 BHP of power which is 11 BHP more than the previous model and a peak torque of 160 Nm which is bumped up by 12 Nm compared to the previous one. This 1.6 litre is mated to a 6 speed manual gearbox or a continuously variable transmission (CVT) gearbox sending power to the front wheels. The six-speed manual achieves 6.5L/100km, while the optional CVT reduces that to 6.1L/100km. Suzuki claims the new Swift Sport will do a 0- 100 km/h sprint in around 8.1 seconds using 95 RON fuel.
The front suspension and steering also receives some sports tuning for better and faster response and handling prowess. The car rides on 17 inch alloy wheels which have been specially developed for the Swift Sport. The new Swift Sport also makes use of high strength steel that has reduced the overall weight of the vehicle. Other features include keyless entry and start, Bluetooth phone and audio streaming, six-speaker audio system with USB connectivity and climate control air conditioning. But don’t get too excited. Suzuki is not launching this car in India anytime soon. Recently Suzuki launched this vehicle in Australia at $23,990 (Rs. 12.62 lakhs) for the manual transmission and $25,990 (Rs. 13.66 lakhs) for the CVT transmission.
