Suzuki has launched a special edition of the Swift in Germany called the Swift X-TRA. It is based on the 5-door Swift Club. As there are no new products lined up for launch in the German market, Suzuki has tried this technique to attract customers to the showrooms. Many additions have been made to the Swift X-TRA to make it more desirable, main among which is introduction of a new colour called the ‘Bison Brown Metallic’. Other colours available on the vehicle are “Galactic Gray Metallic”, “Cosmic Black Pearl Metallic”, “Cool White Pearl Metallic”, “Ablaze Red Pearl Metallic” and “Silky Silver Metallic”.
On the exterior, the changes, apart from the new colour, include a new roof spoiler and tinted glasses as well as special new 16-inch alloy wheels. These minor changes uplift the appearance of the Swift. For the interior, Suzuki has added a new MP3 compatible audio system with CD player, radio and a USB port. The controls for the audio system has been provided on the steering wheel, which is also standard on other high-end variants of the Swift. In the safety department, a new 7-airbags system is fitted.
The engine though remains unchanged. The Swift X-TRA uses the same 1.2-litre 94 BHP engine. The CO2 emissions are just 116 g/km and it returns a fuel efficiency of 19.8 km/l. The price of the Swift X-TRA in Germany is Rs. 10,34,000/-. With the amount of popularity of the Swift in India, Suzuki should think of launching this Swift X-TRA special edition in India as well. Lunching the 94 BHP version of the 1.2-litre engine with 7 airbags will definitely increase the value proposition of this popular hatchback.
