Suzuki Katana gets a price tag of Rs. 13,61,000/- (ex-showroom, New Delhi), cheaper than Hayabusa by Rs. 2.8 lakhs
Suzuki Motorcycle India has launched its all-new Katana for a price tag of Rs 13,61,000/- (ex-showroom, New Delhi). The sport bike can be purchased at all Suzuki Bike Zone dealerships from today.
The Katana was developed to be a sporty-looking standard street motorcycle. There are 2 colours on offer – Metallic Mat Stellar Blue and Metallic Mystic Silver.
It features Suzuki Intelligent Ride System (SIRS) that includes Suzuki Traction Control System (STCS), Suzuki Drive Mode Selector (SDMS), Ride-by-wire Electronic Throttle System, Low RPM Assist, and Suzuki Easy Start System.
The street bike sports a light weight chassis that has been engineered to provide agility, ease of control, and fun-to-ride character. It has an upright riding position to provide optimum control and for maximum comfort even on longer rides.
At the heart, Suzuki Katana is powered by a 999 cc 4-stroke, liquid-cooled, DOHC, inline-4 engine that exerts 150.2 HP at 11,000 RPM and 106 Nm at 9250 RPM. Its multi-functional full-LCD instrument cluster comes with adjustable brightness.
The Katana features a vertically-stacked LED headlight with a unique rectangular shape and LED front position lights that accentuate the sharp look of its face. At the back, the LED tail light and brake light provide a distinctive design.
Suzuki Traction Control System (STCS) offers a wider selection of 5 mode settings (can be switched off as well) and fits a more diverse variety of riding conditions and styles. This in turn instills greater confidence, regardless of experience, while reducing stress and fatigue.
Suzuki Drive Mode Selector (SDMS) is designed to offer a choice of 3 different modes that change output characteristics especially when turning the throttle grip between a slightly open position to when it reaches the top of the mid-speed range under acceleration.
The company said the settings for each mode have been custom-tuned and thoroughly tested to build in the flexibility to better adapt to changing weather, road, riding conditions, and optimise performance.
Ride-by-Wire Electronic Throttle System adds value to the overall riding experience by using new electronic control systems.
Low RPM Assist suppresses engine stalls and helps ensure better control and operation in stop-and-go traffic. Finally, Suzuki Easy Start System enables the rider to start the engine with one quick press.
The all-new Suzuki Katana is cheaper than the third generation Suzuki Hayabusa by Rs. 2.8 lakhs. But, Hayabusa not only offers more power and torque but also has a great fan following across the world.
