Suzuki Jimny Heritage Edition looks retro with unique graphics and colour schemes
Suzuki has unveiled the Jimny XL Heritage edition in Australia, paying homage to the iconic off-roader’s 4×4 legacy spanning from the 1970s to the 1990s. Limited to just 500 units, this special edition is being launched with an aim to boost the sales with its nostalgic flair and exclusive features.
The Jimny XL Heritage edition, based on the made-in-India Maruti Jimny, showcases distinctive decals adorned with the Heritage logo, complemented by eye-catching red mud flaps. Available in a range of colour options including White, Chiffon Ivory with Bluish Black Pearl roof, Jungle Green, Bluish Black Pearl and Granite Grey.
The Suzuki Jimny XL is powered by a 1.5-litre four-cylinder petrol engine, tuned to deliver 100 HP and 130 Nm of torque. It is slightly dialled down compared to its Indian counterpart. It is available with a 5-speed manual gearbox and a 4-speed torque converter automatic transmission for added convenience.
In terms of features, the Jimny XL comes with a 9-inch touchscreen infotainment system compatible with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Safety tech includes hill-hold control, hill-descent control and a suite of airbags. Notably, the Jimny XL surpasses the India-spec model by incorporating an Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) suite with Autonomous Emergency Braking (AEB) as standard, aligning with local safety regulations.
The Maruti Jimny has lost some steam in its home market of India, where it is priced between Rs. 12.74 lakhs-14.95 lakhs (ex-showroom), buyers can benefit from attractive discounts on select model years. It is available with a discount of Rs. 1.50 lakhs for MY2023 units and a Rs. 50,000/- cash discount for newer MY2024 models.
We believe, soon Maruti Suzuki will also need to introduce some special editions of the Jimny in India to garner more attention for the off-roader. It currently competes with the Mahindra Thar and Force Gurkha in the lifestyle vehicle category of off-roaders.
