After the price hike of their other BS6 motorbikes, Suzuki has now increased the price of the BS6 Suzuki Intruder. While the bigger Suzuki Intruders were somewhat successful in their segment, the baby Suzuki Intruder failed to hit the mark.
The Suzuki Intruder made its first appearance in November 2017. While the Intruder did generate a lot of buzz in the market, the buzz didn’t reflect in the sales numbers and the Intruder failed to affect the 150cc cruiser segment like Suzuki expected it to.
The BS6-compliant Suzuki Intruder was first seen at the 2020 Auto Expo. It remained untouched and there were no major changes other than the obvious one – the BS6 engine. The BS6 Intruder was roughly Rs. 11,000/- dearer than the BS4 variant.
While Rs. 1.20 lakh for a 150cc motorcycle is on the expensive side, Suzuki has further increased the price of the Suzuki Intruder by Rs. 2141/-. The BS6 Intruder now retails at Rs. 1,22,141/- (ex-showroom Delhi).
The Suzuki Intruder BS6 features the same powerhouse as the Suzuki Gixxer. It’s a 155cc, single-cylinder, air-cooled engine that churns out 13.6 BHP and 13.8 Nm of torque. The engine also comes with the company’s SEP technology and fuel injection system which improves the throttle response, performance and fuel efficiency.
The Suzuki Intruder will definitely catch your eye in a crowd because it looks very different from anything in its segment. It features an odd-shaped headlamp, LED tail lamp, and a digital instrument cluster (same as the Suzuki Gixxer). While the double-barrel exhaust looks beefy, the plastic used in other places just looks overdone.
To conclude, we think this price hike is a little unjustified. In my opinion, Suzuki should’ve brought the price down instead. Why? Because the Suzuki Intruder rivals the Bajaj Avenger 160, which costs almost Rs. 30,000/- less than the Intruder now. For Rs. 1.22 lakh, the Intruder is now even costlier than the bigger Bajaj Avenger 220.
