Suzuki Hayabusa Recalled In India Over Potential Braking Issue

2021 Suzuki Hayabusa

Over 1000 units of Suzuki Hayabusa affected in India over this recall

Suzuki Motorcycle India has announced a voluntary recall for the third-generation Hayabusa superbike, addressing a potential braking issue that could impact rider safety. A total of 1056 units of the model, manufactured between March 2021 and September 2024, are affected by this recall.

The issue centers on the front brake lever where in certain situations, the play or movement in the lever could increase beyond standard levels. In the worst-case scenario, this excess lever play might lead to contact with the throttle grip, potentially resulting in an increase in braking distance. This could present a significant risk, especially under emergency braking situations, as effective braking is crucial for high-performance motorcycles like the Hayabusa.

The Hayabusa has been a cornerstone of Suzuki’s superbike lineup, especially popular among enthusiasts in India. The third generation of the bike, launched in 2021, introduced significant upgrades to the braking system, moving to Brembo Stylema calipers and larger discs, which addressed some of the braking concerns observed in previous generations. However, this recall indicates that further adjustments are required to ensure optimal braking performance.

Suzuki has confirmed that it will conduct necessary inspections and repairs free of charge for affected motorcycles at its service centers. Owners are encouraged to reach out to their nearest authorised Suzuki dealership to check if their motorcycle falls under this recall. The company has yet to disclose details about the specific repair process or the time required to complete the fix, but it has reassured customers that safety remains its top priority.

Suzuki Motorcycle India is expected to release additional information soon, and affected owners will be notified directly.

The Suzuki Hayabusa is powered by a 1340cc, in-line four, fuel-injected, liquid-cooled DOHC engine producing 190 HP and 150 Nm of torque. The bike is paired with a 6-speed transmission equipped with a bi-directional quickshifter.
