The front end of recent Suzuki bikes are polarising to say the least

The Suzuki GSX-S1000GT has been built to cross continents without breaking a sweat

Suzuki has revealed the GSX-S1000GT, a sport touring motorcycle with unabashed, quirky styling that has been designed for high-speed cruising.

From the get-go, the Japanese bike manufacturer had decided that it will make the GSX-S1000GT a comfortable machine.

Thus, the bike’s frontal area is wide, the flyscreen largish, mirrors have long arms, while the fairing has been designed to offer good protection as well.

It is no lightweight machine as it weighs 226 kg (wet)

What’s more, Suzuki has fitted the sports-tourer with 2 well-padded seats while the riding position is relatively relaxed thanks to the wide-set rubber mounted handlebar and low-set aluminium footrests with rubber inserts.

Even the seat height is accessible for all but the shortest of adults at 810 mm and covering long distances would be a breeze thanks to the 19-litre fuel reservoir.

Of course, a modern machine can’t do without the latest of equipment and the Suzuki GSX-S1000GT comes with full-LED lighting, a 6.5-inch TFT display, smartphone connectivity, 3 ride modes, cruise control, traction control (5 modes), and so on.

The exhaust system is a simple 4-2-1 unit

Available in Metallic Reflective Blue, Metallic Triton Blue and Glass Sparkle Black colour choices, the sports-tourer is powered by a 999cc 4-cylinder, liquid-cooled motor.

It’s maximum rated power output is 152 PS, while the motor puts out 106 Nm of torque and is teamed to a 6-speed transmission with an assist and slipper clutch and a bi-directional quickshifter.

The ground clearance is fairly low at 140 mm

Adjustable KYB suspension comprising a 43 mm inverted front fork and a rear monoshock provide damping and twin 310 mm discs up front clamped by radial-mount Brembo monobloc 4-piston calipers, and a single rotor at the rear are there to stop the motorcycle that rides on 17-inch wheels.

Suzuki quotes a price of £11,599 (Rs. 11.74 lakhs) RRP in the UK for the sport touring machine and customers do have plentiful accessories, including 9 for luggage, to choose.

The 17-inch wheels are wrapped with 120/70-section front and 190/50-section rear rubber
