Suzuki GSX-8R Launched In India, Priced At Rs. 9.25 Lakhs

Suzuki GSX-8R launched in the Indian market to compete with a range of bikes

Suzuki GSX-8R launched in India with a price tag of Rs. 9.25 lakhs (ex-showroom). The GSX-8R shares its powertrain with the Suzuki V-Strom 800DE, which was launched earlier this year. However, while both motorcycles are powered by the same 776cc parallel-twin engine, the GSX-8R is tuned for higher performance. The engine produces 82 HP and 78 Nm of torque in this configuration, which is paired with a 6-speed gearbox featuring a bi-directional quickshifter as standard. This power setup gives the GSX-8R a competitive edge, balancing performance with everyday usability.

Design and Features

Suzuki has adopted its new design language with the GSX-8R, featuring a compact, vertically stacked LED headlamp flanked by air intakes, contributing to both its aggressive stance and aerodynamics. The bike comes equipped with a ride-by-wire throttle, traction control, multiple ride modes and ABS, ensuring modern rider aids that enhance both safety and performance.

Brakes, Suspension and Tyres

For braking duties, the GSX-8R uses dual 310 mm front discs and a single 240 mm rear disc, providing ample stopping power. The bike is fitted with Showa USD forks in the front and a Showa monoshock at the rear, offering preload adjustment to cater to rider preferences. Dunlop RoadSport 2 tyres wrap the cast aluminium wheels, further emphasising the bike’s sport-touring potential.

Practicality

Weighing in at 205 kg and boasting a fuel tank capacity of 14 liters, the GSX-8R strikes a balance between performance and practicality. The bike is designed to offer a comfortable yet thrilling ride, making it suitable for both spirited rides and longer touring trips.

Colour Options and Competition

Suzuki is offering the GSX-8R in three colour schemes: Metallic Matte Sword Silver, Metallic Triton Blue and Metallic Matte Black No.2. Competing directly with the Kawasaki Ninja 650, Triumph Daytona 660 and Aprilia RS 660, the GSX-8R seeks to carve out its niche in a segment that demands both power and refinement.

With a competitive price and a robust feature set, the Suzuki GSX-8R is positioned to attract enthusiasts seeking a well-rounded middleweight sportbike.
