Suzuki Gixxer Special Edition has been showcased at the 2018 Auto Expo, comes with cosmetic changes.
Launched in September 2014, the Suzuki Gixxer came at a time when the market was shifting towards fun-to-ride motorcycles from bare-bones commuters. Expectedly, the motorcycle sold in decent numbers because of its sorted package but continuous threats from the segment-leader Yamaha FZ V2.0 couldn’t be ignored. Along with 16 other products, Suzuki Motorcycle India has showcased the Gixxer Special Edition at the ongoing Auto Expo in Greater Noida. Apart from a new colour scheme, updated graphics and other cosmetic revisions, the motorcycle features no changes to the powertrain, suspension and braking setup.
The street-fighter continues to flaunt a big-bike stance with nicely carved body panels and a dual-port exhaust pipe. Besides a new Candy Sonoma Red and Metallic Sonic Silver paint scheme, the special edition model comes with revised graphics and red rim stripes on 17-inch alloy wheels. There are no changes to the mechanicals and the bike continues to be powered by a 155cc, single-cylinder, carburetted engine that churns out 14.8 PS of power at 8000 RPM and 14 Nm of torque at 6000 RPM. The motor comes paired to a 5-speed manual gearbox.
Equipped with SEP tech, the Gixxer comes with a claimed fuel efficiency of 64 km/litre. Suspension setup comprises of telescopic forks at the front while the rear end gets a mono shock. In addition to a standard disc brake at the front, there is an optional rear disc brake on offer. Price of the regular Gixxer starts from Rs. 78,317/- (ex-showroom, Mumbai) for the rear drum brake variant. Expect the automaker to launch the special edition in near future to provide another option to Gixxer customers.
