The Suzuki Gixxer 250 Adventure, as we’ll call it for now, should be launched in the coming weeks
Suzuki has released a teaser video of its upcoming adventure bike based on the Gixxer 250. The quarter litre dual-sport motorcycle will be launched soon in the Indian market.
Billed as the ‘Master Of Adventure’ by the Japanese manufacturer, the Gixxer 250 Adventure looks set to come with the same chassis as the regular Gixxer 250.
The model shown in the teaser video has alloy wheels and the same exhaust system as the naked bike it is based upon. Even the engine has the same casings and bronze finish to the covers.
There are some visual changes though. For example, the panel shrouding the subframe seems to be different, the rear mudguard is new and there is no tyre hugger either. The tail light is unchanged though.
In the teaser video, riders handling the Suzuki Gixxer 250 Adventure are seen standing on the pegs while traversing muddy terrain, which suggests that the bike will have a high-set handlebar.
It should also come with a new ‘face’, better ground clearance than the Gixxer 250 (165 mm) and despite the likelihood of the fuel tank capacity staying the same at 12 litres, the dual-sport motorcycle will likely weigh more than the naked bike (156 kg) it’s based on.
Powering the bike is a 249cc, oil cooled, single-cylinder engine that, in the Gixxer 250, makes a maximum of 26.5 PS and 22.2 Nm of torque. The transmission will be a 6-speed unit and the bike will come with dual channel ABS. It is unclear whether it is switchable for the rear wheel.
While we have been terming the upcoming motorcycle to be the Gixxer 250 Adventure, the official name of the bike has not been disclosed by Suzuki as of yet. It might be named after the brand’s popular V-Strom range of adventure motorcycles for all we know.
