After unveiling it at the beginning of the year, Suzuki will finally launch its new flagship Gixxer 155 motorcycle on 9th September in India. Suzuki’s second 150cc segment offering in the country, the Gixxer promises to compensate effectively for what the GS150R could never achieve in the segment with a much sportier design and styling, improved power and performance, while competing against the TVS Apache 160, Yamaha FZ-S V2.0, Honda CB Trigger and the likes in the segment. Ahead of the official launch, Suzuki has already revealed specifications and pricing of the 150cc motorcycle.
The Suzuki Gixxer is powered by a 154.9cc single-cylinder, air-cooled, 2-valve engine that produces 14.8 PS of power at 8000 RPM and 14 Nm of torque at 6000 RPM, paired to a 5-speed gearbox. The bike also gets Suzuki Eco Performance (SEP) for improved fuel efficiency and power. Suspension duties are performed by a telescopic front suspension and a monoshock setup at the rear, on par with competition. The Gixxer uses a 100/80/17 front tyre and a 140/60/17 rear tyre, while stopping power comes from a front disc brake and a drum brake setup at the rear sourced from Bybre.
There is no rear disc brake though even as an option, which is disappointing. Weighing at just 135 kgs, the Gixxer is expected to make for a good power to weight ratio and the seat height of 780 mm makes sure that riders of all sizes find the bike accessible. Suzuki has managed to price the Gixxer quite aggressively right in the middle of the competition and it can be all yours for Rs. 84,344/- (on-road, Mumbai). Bookings have already commenced for the 150cc bike.
