Suzuki was expected to come up with an electric vehicle for the Indian market. The leaked patent images of a new electric scooter from the Japanese bike maker reveals the first details of the new product.
Aimed at the Indian market, the new e-scooter from Suzuki looks compact and affordable. The size suggests that this electric scooter is meant for city riding.
The patent image reveals the basic layout of the e-scooter which has a steel frame with round and square-section tubing. There is a simple battery box under the seat which looks swappable.
The battery is sitting above the electric motor which will power the rear wheel via a conventional belt mechanism. The cycle parts including the suspension are basic to keep the costs in check.
While the patent images have a basic barebones design, we can expect some styling and visual enhancements to make it look attractive.
The Suzuki e-scooter will be manufactured in India and they are expected to commence production in the country by 2021. It won’t have a long riding range and high performance considering the size.
