Suzuki electric scooter to be launched in India by 2020 that will be specially designed for the Indian market.
Suzuki is planning to launch a new e-scooter that will be specially designed for India. In the last few months, we have seen a lot of EV products that have launched in India by different brands. The upcoming Suzuki e-scooter will be launched by 2020 focusing on the Indian market.
Suzuki Motorcycle India, MD – Satoshi Uchida revealed that this model will use a global technology platform. Suzuki hasn’t done much on e-scooter in India till now. However, they are selling e-Let’s in Japan for a couple of years now. The Japanese e-Let’s gets a range of 30 km with a small 100-volt battery. This e-scooter can give us a bit idea of what to expect from Suzuki in India.
Uchida further divulges that this electric scooter will offer the performance of a 110-125cc scooter. It might get some changes in the second generation according to the customer response. The exterior of this model will be designed by Suzuki India team as was the case in Intruder and Burgman Street.
Suzuki group is investing Rs. 1700 crores in the new upcoming Li-Ion battery plant in Gujarat. A strong challenge for Suzuki is to beat its competitors in terms of pricing. We should expect the price of this model to be near Rs. 1 lakh. Suzuki is planning to support the Government of India’s vision with its parent company to have more EVs on Indian roads.
