A couple of Suzuki Burgman Street electric scooter prototypes have been spotted testing on Indian roads.
We know that the electric scooter race is getting pretty serious in the country. Ather’s products soon had competition from electric scooters made by major automakers such as Bajaj and TVS.
Suzuki too had been eyeing the segment and it looks like they have not been idle these past few months since the Burgman Streets that were caught testing lacked their exhaust unit.
Moreover, the scooters had their rear monoshock at the right hand side instead of the left hand side as in the petrol powered model. We can also see what could be the electric drive element in the place of the exhaust canister.
We reckon Suzuki is using the Burgman Street as a test bed for its upcoming electric scooter, for it does not make sense to launch a new product with same styling as an existing one.
Or maybe Suzuki has plans to make the Burgman Street an electric-only model. We do not know for sure.
No more details about the Suzuki Burgman Street electric scooter prototype is known, but given the current range of e-scooters, we can expect the model to have about 80 km range and a top speed in the range of 80 km/hr.
Pricing will be key to success in the very small electric vehicle segment and the Japanese manufacturer might be looking at high localisation levels to keep costs in check.
Launch of the electric scooter might take place in 2022 now and being an EV, expect it to come with the latest features on board.
