Suzuki Burgman Electric Launch Might Be Delayed By 2 Years

Suzuki has delayed the launch of the Burgman Electric as incidences of e-scooters catching fire are on the rise

The launch of the Suzuki Burgman Electric has seemingly been delayed by 2 years. The introduction of the 2-wheeled electric vehicle (EV) was anticipated to happen this year in the country.

It seems Suzuki has took notice of the recent incidences of e-scooters catching fire and has temporarily halted the electric 2-wheeler’s launch plans to pave way for further development of the maxi-style scooter.

The development mules of the Burgman Electric have been spotted multiple times out on public roads, especially in New Delhi and Pune, undergoing extensive tests.

Does Suzuki need 2 more years to sort any prevailing heating issues?

Like the electric scooters from Ola and Ather, the Burgman too has a centrally placed motor, and the Japanese brand is seemingly ready to postpone the market introduction of the scooter to further work on its thermal management.

While Bajaj believes it will be wise to enter the electric market soon, and so do every other 2-wheeler manufacturer, the maker of the Hayabusa is seemingly in no hurry.

Could this move put Suzuki dead last in the race toward electrification of its line-up in India? Possibly so. But, the thinking might be that it is best to save one’s reputation and be late rather than to arrive early and face flak after releasing a product with niggles.
