Suzuki Burgman 125cc scooter has been showcased at the Auto Expo alongside other exciting products.
Planning to bring the maxi-scooter segment in India back to life, Suzuki has unveiled the Burgman 125cc scooter at the ongoing Auto Expo in Greater Noida. The scooter comes from the renowned Burgman series which is a range of maxi-scooters sold worldwide with engine capacities ranging from 125cc to 638cc. In India, the Japanese brand is planning to launch the Suzuki Burgman 125 to go against the likes of Honda Grazia 125 and other premium scooters. Instead of a tourer, the scooter comes with “Street” suffix and is being marketed as a luxury urban commute.
Measuring 1884 mm x 661 mm x 1163 mm (length x width x height) in outer dimensions, the Burgman Street features heavily built bodywork inspired from European design language. The scooter comes with a contoured seat and a stretched floorboard for a relaxed and comfortable riding posture. With a ground clearance of 160 mm, the Burgman manages to offer an accessible seat height of 780 mm. It is equipped with plenty of features including an LED headlamp, body-mounted windscreen, alloy wheels and a front disc brake.
Powering the Suzuki Burgman 125cc scooter is a 125cc, single-cylinder, air-cooled motor borrowed from the Access 125 which comes paired to an effortless CVT gearbox. Expected to develop 8.58 HP of power and 9.8 Nm of torque, the engine will offer peppy performance in the city with manageable punch for the highways. It comes with a 5.6-litre fuel tank and has a kerb weight of 110 kgs. Suspension setup comprises of telescopic forks up front and single shock absorber at the rear.
The Burgman offers a front storage compartment with 7-litres of capacity and a sizeable underseat compartment as well. It comes with a DC charging socket, digital instrument cluster and flush-fitted indicators at the front and back. The instrumentation unit has a similar layout seen on Gixxer and Intruder range of motorcycles but makes do without a tachometer. Suzuki plans to sell 1 million units of its products by 2020 and believes that the Burgman scooter will play an important role to achieve the target. Expected to be launched by late 2018 or early 2019, the scooter will be positioned above the Access 125.
