Suzuki Baleno Makes World Premiere, India Launch In October

The European spec Suzuki Baleno will be available with three engine options including the new SHVS hybrid system and is being exported from Maruti’s Manesar plant.

The new Baleno comes with 16-inch alloys, LED DRLs and projector headlamps

Lifting all curtain off its premium hatchback, Suzuki has officially revealed the new Baleno at the 66th IAA Frankfurt Motor Show. Boasting of a new ‘Liquid Flow’ design theme, the styling is voluptuous and is accentuated by the curves and large fenders seen on the model. The hatchback measures 3995 mm in length, 1745 mm in width and 1470 mm in height and is based on a new generation lightweight platform that offers increased rigidity and contributes to enhanced fuel efficiency, handling and stability. Sales for the Baleno across Europe will commence in early 2016 with the model being shipped from the Maruti Suzuki plant in Manesar while the India launch is scheduled for the last week of October.

In terms of features, the Suzuki Baleno is loaded to the brim with multi-information colour display, adaptive cruise control with speed limiter and a Smartphone Linkage Display Audio compatible with Apple CarPlay. The premium hatchback also comes with Radar Brake Support as part of the safety features’ list. The automaker states that the Baleno can seat five in comfort with generous shoulder room in front and legroom at the rear. The boot capacity stands at 355-litres. The wheelbase hasn’t been revealed yet.

Engine options on the Euro spec Suzuki Baleno include the new 1.0-litre BoosterJet direct-injection three-cylinder turbo petrol unit, tuned to produce 110 HP and 170 Nm of torque, paired to a 5-speed manual or 6-speed automatic transmissions. There is a 1.2-litre DualJet four-cylinder petrol unit on offer churning out 89 HP and 120 Nm of torque, paired to a 5-speed manual or CVT autobox, while power also comes from a 1.2-litre DualJet mill paired to the SHVS (Smart Hybrid Vehicle by Suzuki) technology in favour of high fuel efficiency figures.
