Suzuki to push the sales of motorcycles in India, introduce new premium bikes.
Suzuki currently has a 90:10 ratio of their scooter vs bike sales in India. The Japanese bike maker wants to increase the percentage of motorcycle sales from 10 percent to at least 20 percent of their annual sales in the domestic market.
They currently sell 5 bikes which contribute to 10 percent of its overall volumes. They believe the motorcycle segment is a challenge for the company and they are working on enhancing the presence of the segment in the next fiscal.
They have heavily revised the Gixxer series with a new design keeping the Indian market in mind. Their current focus is to enhance the sales numbers of the existing lineup, they will introduce new products as well in the near future to boost the sales.
Suzuki officials have confirmed that the brand will focus on 150cc bike segment and above. Also, they won’t be participating in commuter segment anymore.
They believe the company’s strength lies in performance bikes and value packed vehicles.
They are planning to expand their presence around the country as well. They currently have 540 dealerships and aim to come up with 600 dealerships by the next fiscal.
They are looking to sell 7.2 lakh units in this fiscal while they aim to sell 8 lakh units by the next fiscal.
