Mahindra Bolero is the best selling SUV in June 2015 and Mahindra has yet again managed to dominate the SUV segment taking up four of the top ten positions.
Slowly becoming one of the country’s most favored class of vehicles, the popularity of SUVs has been increasing exponentially over the past few years thanks to the addition of the new compact entry-level or the compact SUV segment. The number of units sold by all the SUVs in the Indian car market for the month of June 2015 have been revealed and Mahindra’s Bolero once again took the top spot selling 6093 units. However, the Bolero’s sales have dipped because the vehicle was managing 7000 odd units consecutively for the past few months.
The number two spot is taken by the very popular Mahindra Scorpio which after the facelift continues to appeal to a larger audience, clocking 3666 units. The Ford EcoSport took third position managing 3664 units last month, getting very close to the Scorpio. The Mahindra XUV500 which recently got a facelift, came next selling 3326 units. The XUV500 is followed by the Renault Duster, whose popularity has improved from last month, selling 2310 units. Next on the list is the king of the premium SUV segment, the Toyota Fortuner which found 1390 new homes in June. The Nissan Terrano sold 1021 units last month and was closely followed by the Tata Safari Storme at 936 units respectively.
The Hyundai Santa Fe took the number 8 spot on the list selling just 117 units, while the highly criticised Mahindra Quanto sold in similar figures of 114 units. The Honda CR-V continues with its sad tale in the country finding just 57 new customers, while the SsangYong Rexton went to 27 new homes. The very capable yet over priced Skoda Yeti sold a meagre 11 units last month. The final spot was taken by the Chevrolet Captiva, which sold no units last month and will soon be replaced by the upcoming Trailblazer. Overall, Mahindra as usual dominated the list once again with 4 models making their way to the top 10 of the list.
The battle in the segment will only be getting tougher with passing time as the new Hyundai Creta is ready to upset all its rivals when it’s launched in India on 21st July 2015. Hyundai dispatched 1888 units of the Creta to dealers last month.
