Sales in April have taken a massive hit as almost all the car manufacturers have seen a decline in SUV sales.
Hyundai has set the benchmark in SUV sales in April 2019 with Creta that has sold 10,487 units. Even after seeing an 8 percent decline in MoM growth, it leads the sales chart. Following Hyundai, Mahindra takes the 2nd spot with 3930 units of the Scorpio being sold in the month of April. The 5th spot has also been taken by Mahindra with the XUV500 managing to sell 1508 units this month.
Maruti Suzuki has taken the 3rd spot with the S-Cross that has seen 2163 units, which is less compared to the 2424 units that they sold in March. Tata Motors has made its mark with the Harrier, but the sales figures don’t justify the vehicle’s popularity. Tata has sold only 2075 units of the Harrier in April and also has seen a decline of 17 percent in its MoM growth. Ford’s highly capable SUV, the Endeavour sits on the 9th position of the list. Ford has managed to sell a meagre 498 units of the Endeavour in April.
Volkswagen Tiguan is dwelling at the bottom of the list and the company has managed to sell only one unit of the SUV in April. Tiguan has seen a 98 percent drop in MoM growth. Skoda has seen a 70 percent drop with the sales of the Kodiaq. SUV sales have seen a decline for all the manufacturers but for the Nissan Terrano, it has not been the case. Nissan Terrano is the only vehicle in the list to record a 122 percent MoM growth even after 60 units being sold.
