Super-SUV Lamborghini Urus To Make Debut In 2017

After unveiling the concept Egoista, at the company’s 50 years of celebration, Lamborghini has confirmed that the company’s super-SUV, Urus is under the development phase and will go on sale by 2017. The Urus will be the second offering in the SUV segment by Lamborghini. The first offering was the LM002 built for seven years from 1986 to 1993, also was the first four-wheel drive vehicle offered by Lamborghini.

The Lamborghini Urus was first showcased at last year’s Beijing Motor Show and had been added to the wish list of Italian bull fans. The fierce design with the sharp creases and the high boots, evokes the character of a bull on which the model has been named ‘URUS’. The Urus is an extinct breed of the behemoth wild bulls, considered as the ancestors of the domestic cattle.

The super-SUV will sit on a re-worked version of the MQB platform, treated with aluminium and carbon fiber to make the platform more rigid and light in weight. The same platform underpins the Audi Q7, Porsche Cayenne and the Volkswagen Touareg. According to earlier reports, the Urus could receive a V8 engine with an electric motor that produces around 680 BHP of power, transmitted to the all-time four wheel drive system via a dual clutch transmission. If Lamborghini employs a hybrid powertrain in the Urus, there will be no point in denying the presence of this super-SUV in the fast lane super car league.

The uplifted striking design and the raging bull on the hood is enough to arrest the sight of every single person on the road. The floating roof design, large 24-inch matte finish carbon-fiber alloy wheels, capabilities to go anywhere and the luxurious prestige of the brand name, makes the Urus an ecstasy in everyday driving. Lamborghini is planning to produce 3000 units of the Urus every year, to bolster the sales of the company. However, the production date has not been confirmed yet but the vehicle will reach dealerships by 2016 and will be on sale from 2017.
