Born in Korea, Rexton W is the first SUV to be driven in India from SsangYong’s stable. It is not a secret that it will be launched day after tomorrow, but surprisingly till yesterday no word about was out about it in the media. Not even teaser adverts on the web! Also, the question ‘Under which badge Ssangyong Rexton W will come?’ is also still unanswered. But, we finally have an answer as the teaser website is up today, which states it as SsangYong Rexton W by Mahindra – High End Premium SUV. It throws some light on the intentions of the company about this product.
Many were speculating about the badge it would carry on it. Would it be Mahindra or the SsangYong? Each badge has different story associated with it and have different targets. If it comes under Mahindra, it will help them expanding the business portfolio and which will stretch Mahindra’s portfolio to new higher level. It will mark the presence of Mahindra in the premium SUV territory. If it comes under SsangYong as first ever offering in India, it will help them to build a strong brand image for themselves. This in turn will lay a basement for future SsangYongs in pipeline, mainly the Korendo.

So, Mahindra played the same trick as they did with Renault Logan. Rexton will come as SsangYong Rexton W by Mahindra. So it will enjoy the benefits like reliability and strong service network being associated with brand Mahindra and at the same time it will spread awareness about the brand SsangYong in India. Also the website tags Rexton as High End Premium SUV, which indicates the target market. So, we can expect it to start at around Rs. 20 lakhs or above. 17th October will be the day which will answer every single question about this SUV. We will surely bring the updates on that day, till then have a look at the teaser website here and keep on speculating about the price and the positioning.
