SsangYong E100 EV Teased, Likely To Share Mahindra eXUV300 Mechanicals

The electric SUV has redesigned grille, headlights and fog lamps

The SsangYong E100 EV has been revealed in teaser images by the Mahindra-owned Korean brand and it has a production-ready look to it.

The electric SUV looks similar to the Mahindra eXUV300 that was showcased at the Auto Expo 2020 and will use the Mahindra Electric Scalable and Modular Architecture (MESMA).

We say that because the Mahindra XUV300 and the SsangYong Tivoli (on which the E100 is based) share the same platform.

What cannot be ascertained is whether the SsangYong E100 EV will be larger like the Tivoli, or be a sub-4-metre SUV like the Mahindra car. It will be launched in SsangYong’s home market next year.

Design-wise, the E100 and eXUV300 concept look very similar indeed. The grille is enclosed like the Mahindra electric SUV, but the design is different. The styling of the headlight and fog lamps is also different here.

The Mahindra eXUV300 had blue accents, which is carried over to the SsangYong E100 EV as the splitter gets a generous touch of blue colour.

At the sides, one can see rear view mirrors that were absent on the Mahindra concept and body-coloured C-pillar which was in black on the Indian car.

No technical details of the electric SUV have been revealed by SsangYong yet. But because the cars share the platform, they could well share the powertrain and battery pack.

Mahindra has stated that its eXUV300 will come with a 350V electric powertrain, with a 380V unit to be added later. Also, two battery size options are expected to be on offer.
