Volkswagen Polo, Vento Special Editions Launched

As the launches for the festive season begin, Volkswagen has given its Polo and Vento an exclusive treatment by launching the special edition Polo Select and Vento Celeste. Both these offerings will be limited in stock.

The Polo Select gets an exclusive trunk garnish, seat covers and 4 scuff plates

Volkswagen India has launched exclusive special editions of their Polo and Vento models, called the Polo Select and Vento Celeste. The launch is just in time for the festive season and will freshen up the currently sold products. Both the special edition packs will be available for customers wanting to buy the top-of-the-line Highline variants of the respective models. This move has become common these days among manufacturers to temporarily increase sales during times of expected boom, in this case, the festive season.

The Polo Select gets a load of cosmetic changes to make it look sportier. It gets 4 scuff plates and seat covers with the Volkswagen logo on the inside, while the Vento Celeste gets an all-new touch screen infotainment system with a Blaupunkt radio and navigation system. On the outside, the Polo select gets an exclusive trunk garnish to give it a premium feel. The Vento meanwhile, misses out on the trunk garnish, but gets a boot lip spoiler.

Both cars also get scratch resistant carbon-finished centre consoles, detachable window blinds and new textile mats. On the outside, both cars get blacked out carbon finished ORVMs, black body side molding and a blacked out roof. The changes add a whiff of sporty character to these cars with all the black elements on offer. Volkswagen however, has not released any details about the added cost of these features over the normal cars. We expect the Special Edition Polo and Vento to cost an additional Rs. 60,000/- and Rs. 75,000/- respectively.

Mechanically, the special editions will be identical to their respective Highline variants. The Polo will be getting the same 1.2 litre MPI and 1.5 litre diesel engines mated to a 5-speed manual transmission. We would have liked the Polo GT TSI to be given the special treatment as well, as the sporty looks would complement its hot hatch character. Meanwhile the Vento gets the 1.2 litre TSI petrol and 1.5 litre TDI engines mated to either a 5-speed manual or 7-speed DSG auto box. Only a limited number of these special editions will be available to the customers.
