Nissan India launched the Sunny in 2011, which is based on the V-platform. The Nissan Sunny is known for its class leading interior space, modest list of features and attractive price tag. Nissan India has now introduced a new special addition variant of the Sunny with additional features. The new additions in the special addition variant include a rear parking camera with sensors, 2-din multimedia system with touch screen, rear spoiler and chrome plated trunk garnish. Nissan offers the special edition Sunny in XV trim in both petrol and diesel options, priced at Rs. 8.60 lakhs and 9.68 lakhs respectively (ex-showroom, Delhi).
Apart from the new features, there are no changes on the technical front. Nissan offers two engine options with the Sunny, a 1.5-litre petrol motor, which is responsible to produce a maximum power output of 100 PS at 6000 RPM with a peak torque figure of 134 Nm at 4000 RPM and a 1.5-litre k9k diesel engine which churns out a peak power of 86 PS at 3750 RPM with maximum torque output of 200 Nm at 2000 RPM, both mated to 5-speed manual transmissions.
It is expected that Nissan will soon roll out the X-tronic CVT automatic transmission Sunny in the next couple of months. We have seen the all new CVT transmission working quite well on the Renault Scala to tackle the congested city traffic. The X-tronic variant of the Sunny is expected to cost slightly less than the Renault Scala. With the introduction of the special edition variant, Nissan seems to ramp up the sales and presence of the Sunny. Nissan offers the Sunny with a starting price of Rs. 5.93 lakhs (ex-showroom Delhi).
