The Skoda VisionS concept has a 6-seat layout while the production version will have 7 and 5-seat options and the SUV will be launched in the second half of 2016.
Skoda previewed the VisionS concept sketches a few days ago while the premiere was scheduled to take place at the 2016 Geneva Motor Show, however the automaker has revealed the concept’s design ahead of the debut. The VisionS is confirmed to go under production in the second half of this year.
The Skoda VisionS concept, according to the automaker is inspired by the Czech cubism and Bohemian traditional crystal art. The production version of the concept will be based on Volkswagen’s MQB or the Modular Transverse Toolkit platform and it will be bigger than the Yeti.
The Skoda VisionS concept is a 6-seat SUV while the production variant will offer 7 and 5-seat layouts and is expected to be called by the name Kodiak which was recently trademarked by the automaker. The design language for all SUVs and crossovers from the Czech automaker will be based on the VisionS concept.
As seen in the sketches, the front fascia of the Skoda VisionS concept has a dual headlamp design while the overall front-end with the corporate grille looks similar to the VisionC that formed the basis for the third generation Superb. The overall stance of the SUV looks impressive with the cladding and a lot of character lines while the rear has twin exhausts which was earlier reserved for vRS models only.
The Skoda VisionS Concept is 4700 mm long, 1910 mm wide and 1680 mm tall with a wheelbase of 2790 mm while the weight and other specifications are not yet revealed. The production Kodiak is expected to be powered by a 1.6-litre, four-cylinder diesel engine that also powers the Superb. Rumours have it that the SUV will also get a hybrid system with an electric motor linked to a 1.4-litre petrol engine.
