Skoda’s compact SUV for India, the Vision IN, has been spotted testing on our roads and save for the camouflage, we reckon it is production-ready.
We have got out hands on this image courtesy of MotorBeamer Sammit Velankar who saw the car being driven near Pune and could not resist taking a snap.
Although it is heavily camouflaged, we can see that the shape of the car stays true to the concept. Since it has been taken from the rear three quarter angle, we can only speak about the side and rear profile for now.
Like the concept, the sides of the car look to have a decent glass area and large doors. It also retains the roof rails, while the wheels look to be 17-inch jobbies.
The rear section of the car is even more reminiscent of the concept. Notice how the bottom part of the panel connecting the LED tail lights slopes downward at an angle.
Similarly, the overall shape of the bumper on the Skoda Vision IN spotted car looks very similar to the concept as well. Also, there is a roof spoiler and a shark fin antenna.
Expect the car to come with all-LED lighting, a touchscreen infotainment system and virtual cockpit, both measuring circa 10 inches in size, latest connectivity tech and a whole host of safety features. It might also get a sunroof.
Based on VW’s the MQB A0 IN architecture, the Skoda Vision IN will likely be petrol-only with there being two options – a 1.0-litre TSI unit making 110 PS and 175 Nm and a 1.5-litre TSI engine putting out 147 PS and 250 Nm.
Transmission options to be offered with the car will include a 6-speed manual and an automatic which might be a 7-speed DSG unit.
Set to be launched by mid-2021, it will take on established rivals in the compact SUV class like the Hyundai Venue, Tata Nexon and Maruti Vitara Brezza, among others.
